Root canal (endodontic) treatment is a dental procedure performed to remove inflamed or infected pulp tissue from the inside of the tooth.  The pulp space is carefully cleaned and disinfected, and then filled and sealed. Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the canals and save the natural tooth.
